Thanksgiving 2009

Visiting the family in Arizona for Thanksgiving again this year. Started off the day with the Mesa Turkey Trot. I think I've run it about 8 times now.

This is Amy coming in the home stretch.

Our family has outgrown having Thanksgiving at a house, so this year we moved it inside the church cultural hall.

MLS Champions

In case you don't follow soccer, which means 99% of you, our home team, the Real Salt Lake, won the Major League Soccer Cup this weekend in Seattle. It's like the Superbowl of soccer. I schlepped it 15 hours up and back on a bus to witness it in person. This was a Cinderella win if ever there was one. It's also a big win for our company, as we are the team sponsor. (note their jersey's below) Here are some photos from the trip.

Ready for the day outside the Hyatt: Ryan, Conn, Me, Carson, Erik, and Marden

In case you ever wondered what a shirt made entirely of licorice might look like.

Ryan carried this flag wherever we went.

Marden's brother Shawn catching a fish at the market.

Parade of RSL fans leading to Qwest Stadium. We outnumbered the L.A. Galaxy fans like 10 to 1.

Met up with a company founder, Gordon, just outside the stadium for this shot.

Inside Quest Stadium. Packed house.

Our $25 seats were way up there.

The view below.

The big save in the equivalent of "double overtime" that sealed our victory.

WOLFMOTHER

Brandon and I went to see the Wolfmother show last night at The Depot. Best club to see a show in SLC--hands down. Their sound, stage, lighting, and overall venue are top notch.

Heartless Bastards opened. Fantastic band with a killer female lead singer. Worth the cost of admission just to see them.

So Wolfmother was all frosting after that. Tons and tons of delicious frosting. Our ears were nearly bleeding by the end of the show, but it was all worth it. They played every song we could have hoped to hear and more.

Championship Game

Brayden's team played in the finals today, going in 10-0 for the season. When I left my house in Lehi, it was pretty nice out. I had on just a hoody and my grandpa slippers on my feet. As I headed north on the freeway, I smacked right into a major snowstorm. Parallel parking is tricky when your back window is covered in snow.

#35, Brayden braving the cold

Hard to tell what was happening on the field with all that snow.

Brave fans

We went up 6-0 in the first half. The team sought shelter and warmth in a tent during halftime.

Then back out for the second half, crashing through their banner.

We scored again, making it a 12-0 shutout, earning an undefeated championship. The head coach teared up during his post game speech.

Jazzed

Some last minute tickets to a Jazz game came through last week from my company. I brought Scott with me and met up with Nicole and Carrie at the game. We had some great seats on the 7th row.

It was loud in there

Over to Z Tejas after for a late dinner. Holy crap was this burger good. I'm a sucker for a bacon, cheese, mushroom burger. But then again, who isn't?
