Kuala Lumpur: Thursday

Flew from Tokyo through the night and landed this morning at 6am in Kuala Lumpur (KL). Made my way to BackHome hostel where I'll be staying for 4 nights.

Went to lunch at Batki Woodlands Vegetarian Food Cafe for some terrific Indian food.

KL reminds me a lot of Bangkok--insane traffic, noisy, polluted, and in disrepair, yet really fun to explore.

Knockoffs galore on Petaling Street in China Town. I bought a couple pair of Ambercrombie shorts...

...and some mangosteen from this fruit stand.

Mt. Sekirozan

Derek and I hiked to the summit of Mt Sekirozan on Saturday. It was a great trail and was extra beautiful in the morning light.

Derek said something about a monk living here a long time ago.

This section was amazing in the morning rays.

These are some random photos that span the last 2 or 3 months. Some you may have caught on Facebook.

Hara-rikyu Garden

After the markets, I walked through Hara-rikyu Garden. I visited here during the winter in 2006, but nothing was in bloom. A bit greener this time around.

Tsukiji Market

I made a day trip to check out Tsukiji Market on Saturday. There wasn't a lot to photograph that I haven't already photographed many times before in other markets around the world, so not many pictures below.

There are many pickled items for sale in the outer markets.

Take note that it is NOT raining. The ladies use umbrellas on sunny days as well as rainy ones. I wish I could get away with this too, but I've been told it's frowned upon when men do it.

I ate lunch at Sushi Zanami, one of two kaiten sushi places in the outer markets. It was pretty good.

Okinawa: Sunday

Took a snorkeling trip with Seasir out to the Kerama Islands. It was a fun day off exploring the reefs in three different locations. I didn't have my camera with me, so these are some photos I tracked down from others.

I got a bit of a sunburn on my head and the back of my hands.
