When Hale Freezes Over 5K

Annie and I ran in the Hale Freezes Over 5K this morning. I've run in their 10K's twice before and haven't managed to crack the top 3 in my age division. These races always bring out some of the best local runners. I hoped my luck would change in the 5K, and it did. I got FIRST in my age group. Woohoo!

VICTORY!

Time: 20:37 (7th overall)

Great race organization and prizes as usual. They always do a fantastic job.

Thanks Annie for snapping this shot. And congrats on your 2nd place age group finish!

The Mocktail

Annie invited me to accompany her to the 2011 Mocktail, a masquerade ball held annually up in Sandy. It's an excuse to dress up, drink pretend cocktails, and practice one's dance moves.

Annie, Me, Kassidy, Jared, & Rayelene
That mask is growing on me. I'm one step away from donning a cape and fighting crime.

Group photo with a bunch of people who's names I can no longer remember. Ok, let's be honest. I never remembered them in the first place.

Blaine & his wife getting their groove on.

Couple's were encouraged to show off their stuff in succession across the dance floor as Justin Timberlake serenaded us. This is Kassidy & I attempting to "bring sexy back".

Please don't steal our soap!

I'm not sure what's funnier. Tying down your soap or thinking that flimsy string is going to stop a determined suds thief.

New Year's Day in Antigua

Explored Antigua on New Year's Day.

Inside the Parqueo del Santuario

Father Tuck

This cross appears to have some conflicting symbols. Either that, or I missed the chapter in the Bible where Jesus plays a mean game of dice.

Martha, June, and Steve taking in some sun

Is this Full Service or Self Service?

Chicken Buses

I sampled various street foods in the plaza for dinner

Lake Atitlán to Antigua

We took a boat tour around Lake Atitlán yesterday, a large volcanic lake--the deepest in Central America, although there are parts that have not yet been sounded. It's surrounded by 3 volcanoes.

From the docks of Panajachel.

Olivia & Jessica + the requisite creepy old dude who keeps trying to squirm his way into our dance circle.
[Note: In this scenario, I'm not the creepy old dude]
