Haedong Yonggungsa Temple

Took a bus out to explore the Haedong Yonggungsa Temple area today.

A lot of intricate detail on the buildings

I've noticed that a lot of young Korean couples go out wearing matching outfits. I guess it helps when one of them gets lost. When security asks what the missing person is wearing, they can point to themselves and say "this".

I liked the look of this rock tower

...and these candles

I went through the Fisheries Science Museum--this was the only photo I felt like posting. It's a fish made from fish hooks.

A late lunch

And then an afternoon showing of Bourne Legacy. This is the first movie I've seen in the theater since leaving the US six months ago.

Takao Trick Art Museum

I went to the Trick Art Museum in Takao on Saturday with the Tokyo Single's group. There are a lot of paintings on the wall made to look three dimensional, as well as other optical illusions you can take pictures with. Here's a sampling of what it has to offer.

Ramen Museum

I went to the Ramen Museum in Yokohama today with a group of Tokyo singles. It's an opportunity to eat overpriced styles of ramen from around Japan. Still, it was nice to be out and about on my weekend for a change.

Looking down on the floor of the eating area.

3 of the ladies in our group enjoying ramen.

This dude was a master of balloon animals, and held the crowd's attention the entire time we were there.

DC by land and sea

Saturday we went to the Smithsonian, starting with The Castle, which contains random historical items.

Like the American Idol judges table

Then over to the National Museum of American History

I never had a cool lunch pail. Just a brown bag and Toughskins jeans.

Hoods worn by conspirators in Lincoln's death. Creepy.

Our first choice of where to eat lunch was closed, so we ended up at this Caribbean joint: Naby's Island Restaurant.

Jerk chicken, rice, beans, and cabbage = delicious

Coming out of the Metro: Redis, Jina, Alena, and Kelly

On Sunday we took a Potomac river cruise on the Spirit of Washington.

The buffet was ok. Not my favorite meal of the trip.

It was good enough for Gary Coleman though.
