The Venetian

I was in Vegas last week for work, but didn't take any pictures. My boss Andrea gave me this one today, so I thought I'd post it.

Myself, Kathy, Chris, and Carol inside The Venetian.

We had just enjoyed dinner at the restaurant located behind us to the left. Great trip, but it took me two days back home to recover.

Tour of Duty through My Garden

I started my garden a little late this year. I should have been planting seeds indoors months ago instead of right now. At any rate, this is my garden to date:

Moving clockwise around my yard--future home of my tomatoes, featuring rubber snake protection:

Last year's strawberries came back with a vengeance, increasing from two scawny plants to over a dozen.

I only got two strawberries last year, so I'm looking forward to this year's abundance.

My strawberry empire marches forward into tomato territory, the stronghold of my salsa reserves.

Just wait, this area here will soon be overrun with vines of cantaloupe and cucumbers. They are sure to put up a fight with the strawberries, but hopefully not at the tomato's expense.

Peace reigns supreme with the flowers. For now...

Safe from harm, the herbs have yet to sprout.

And indoors, my seedling army awaits its deployment into the yard: More herbs, tomatoes, jalapenos, green peppers, and onions.

Coachella Tattoos

This is my final Coachella Blog post. During the three days of music and sun, I got to snapping photos of tattoos. One would be hard pressed to find a higher concentration of tattoos in one place than at a music festival. This is a small sampling:

I know a full arm tattoo is called a sleeve, but I'm not sure what the term is for a full leg.

Someone should have warned this guy about the ever-changing ways of technology... maybe then he'd have an iPod tattoo instead of a boom box.

I like the Lenny Kravitz looking dude in the background. He has that look of "Nice..... wet t-shirt contest"

I think it's Latin.

Artful shapes.

The white out nail polish is a nice touch.

Nature + Music = Coachella

Accidentally captured a little side boob with this tattoo.

Rage Against The Machine fan.

Neck faerie.

Cinco de Mustache

What's become an annual tradition in our marketing department, Cinco de Mustache, was hotter than ever this year. I matched my look with a not-so-macho western shirt, purchased especially for the occasion. (All reasonable offers will be considered)

A Stroll Through Coachella

With 5 stages of music, there's not much free time between bands. It's worth taking a few breaks though in order to take in the many Coachella sights.

Oasis Tents

Ryan will have to go without beer during the festival.

Fabric Maze

Harley Bird inside the Fountain Tent

Seeking Shade

Smokin' Some Weed

Coachella: Day 3

After being on my feet for two days, I was not looking forward to another day of standing--my feet and legs are KILLING me! I stood or sat in the back most of the day, so I didn't get many good stage shots, but I'll see if I can steal some from other bloggers.

Suffered through an overwhelmingly below average band called Fair To Midland because Tapes 'n Tapes was up next. T n T was good, but for some reason I was expecting more.

I'd heard a couple decent Grizzly Bear songs, so we sprawled out in the back to listen. Way too instrumentally indulgent for my taste. Got bored and wandered around taking pictures instead.

Rodrigo y Gabriela are a phenominal guitar playing duo--brother and sister who will amaze you both visially and sonicaly with their music. Certainly one of the better performances of the festival.

Jon and I split up after. I went to Canser de Ser Sexy (CSS), and he went to Kaiser Chiefs. I wanted to see both, but was forced to choose. I went with the Brazilian ladies. Despite poor sound, they still put on a really good show. I think they would be better suited in a small venue.

After an overpriced Mexican dinner in the food court, we went to see Jose Gonzales who was very mellow, but good.

Sat outside the tent, but within listening distance for Lily Allen. The places was overflowing for such a bland performer.

One of the more lively and interesting stage shows came courtesy of The Teddybears. Good music combined with costumes and crazy visuals = fun time by all.

Finally, over to the main stage for the last and biggest band of the festival: Rage Against The Machine. I was a little nervous, because the first two songs started out a bit rough. But them Zach came into his own and brought the house down. One brain exploding song after another. The crowd was bezerk and I'm sure a plethora of injuries were sustained. Jon and I were watching safely from a distance, via two giant video screens.

Coachella is an experience one must have first hand. These pictures only give a glimpse into the event. I have some more photos to sort and post later, so check back.
