Happy 65th Dad

My brother and I spent the day with my dad for his 65th birthday. Part of our day involved an 18 hole game of disc golf  and geocaching in the scorching desert.

Chubby Chaser

I turned 37 today and celebrated by getting together with friends for a casual dinner at Chubby's in Pleasant Grove. It's a classic American joint that serves up delicious burgers, fries, and other greasy staples.

What I've been up to

I've been traveling a lot more with my current job than I did with my last one. In a nutshell, I put on entrepreneurial competitions. My company helps start-ups get funding. Our most popular event, called CrowdPitch, has 5-6 entrepreneurs present their business plans in front of an audience, as well as a panel of judges. The crowd and panel invest FUN money at the end with the company they liked best. Winner gets a prize package worth about $5,000.

I traveled down to Arizona for the second time to do a couple events. The first time around, I invited my parents. This time, in addition to my parents, I had by brother Dave and his wife, and my sister Jenny and her husband. It was a mini family reunion.

This is a shot of Dave & Julie we found in another blog post

I've really been taking my time getting back into shape. That translated into my second 5K of the summer. My time of 20:49 in the Alpine Days 5K was only good enough for 4th place in my age group. Some great runners came out.

Why even bother "hiding" your keys under the tire if you're gonna just do a half-assed job. They'd be better concealed in the ignition.

Deanna is back from nannying around the globe. We celebrated her birthday the other night at a park in Lindon. That's her niece Lola, not our love child.

WingShack Takeover

We celebrated my birthday lunch at The WingShack. We sort of took the place over--rearranging all their tables into one giant one. Thanks to everyone who came out to share in the fun. I'll see if I can name everyone in the photo, starting with Callie on the left.

Mouthwatering

I'm way late posting this, but I wanted to give a quick shout out to Ashley & Cali for gracing me with one of my favorite meals on my birthday. Her tortilla soup is to die for.

Ok, I'll get back to more Baja photos now.

James 1

We celebrated my nephew James' 1 year birthday at Peter Piper Pizza during Thanksgiving weekend. Per tradition, (and for the record, this is a tradition I am staunchly opposed to) James was prodded into making waste to a giant slab of birthday cake.

Becca besmirching the fact that 100 tickets only scores you one giant pixie stick. Or wait, that was me.

Dinner with Friends

I celebrated my birthday the other night with friends. Of course all my friends are married, so it was more of a couple's night and me.

The wives put together a fantastic home cooked meal, as seen in the picture below. I didn't pose them. This is really how they cook when they get together.

Cali brought out the fine china for the occasion.
